Another very busy week in Year 1. In Maths we have finished our unit on addition and subtraction within 10 and the children are applying their number bonds to write and solve equations.
They have been learning to program the bee-bots and really loved using them in the classroom. They can give simple instructions and test them out on the bee-bot mats. They can experiment at home using the bee-bot app on Purple Mash.
Continuing with our Under the Sea theme, the children described sea related settings in their big write today. After that, they had a lovely drama workshop with Perform, a local performing arts company. They pretended to be divers in search of the mystery sea creature and the stolen mother pearl.
We are looking forward to our walk to Highfield Park on Wednesday. If you have yet not handed in the authorization forms, please do so asap. If your child has wellington boots, could you please send them, in a plastic bag, on Wednesday morning (clearly labelled) in case we need them. Sturdy shoes are suitable and a warm coat is essential even if the weather forecast is favorable.
Have you all a wonderful weekend.
The Year 1 team.
