Cunningham Hill Infant School Governors
Chair of Governors, Mrs Charmian Ellis (Re-Appointed 1/9/15)
After completing an honours degree in History, I joined the NHS as a Graduate Management Trainee. I worked in general management at Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital before leaving to start a family in 1980. I then had an 8 year career break to look after my two children both of whom attended CHIS and Junior School. They both did very well at CHIS and have very fond memories of their time. I went back to work in the NHS but moved into the Training Department where I stayed until I retired in 2010. My last post was Trust Learning & amp; Development Manager for the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (Mental Health and Learning Disability). I undertook additional qualifications which included City and Guilds Further Education Teaching Certificate and the NVQ Assessors Awards D32,D33 and D34.
Vice Chair of Governors, Mrs Deborah Cameron (Elected 11/2/13)
I have two sons at Cunningham Hill and have been a Governor since Spring 2012. I have Drama Degrees from Exeter University and worked in University Management until I had children. This gave me a working knowledge of educational language, issues and policy as well as performance data analysis which I find very useful in my Governing role. I became partially sighted in 2007 and was unable to continue my career. This experience has made me particularly interested in how minority groups access education. I am now happy to work in the performing arts as a musician and playwright. I work for Tick Tock Music St. Albans and founded and run the Cunningham Hill Infants Ukulele Club. I am also privileged to be in my third year of helping both Reception Classes with weekly Music and Movement sessions. I love being a part of our wonderful school.
Co-Opted Governor, Mrs Margaret Edgar (Re-Appointed 10/12/12)
I was elected a parent governor in 1988 when my sons were pupils at Cunningham Hill and was subsequently appointed an LEA governor. I chaired the governing body for twelve years from 1994. I have recently retired from my job as a local authority committee administrator. I believe strongly in the importance of a good start in education for all children, so I am very proud to be associated with such an excellent school.
Co-Opted Governor, Mrs Alison Cook (Re-Appointed 5/2/13)
Alison has been a Governor since 2004, initially as a parent Governor and now as a LEA Governor. She works in Education and is a member of the PPC Committee.
Community Governor, Fiona Charlesworth (Re-Appointed 1/10/13)
After completing teacher training at Cambridge University I spent nine years working as a history teacher in secondary schools in Herts and Beds. I work for the St Albans Museum Service which provides educational experiences for primary schools and as a Freelance Teacher for History Off the Page. Since 2004 I have been the Learning Officer with the St Albans Museums Service. I have regularly visited Cunningham Infants School in my museum capacity, delivering workshops and have worked with the staff on several projects including one based on the life of Samuel Ryder. I am also currently working at Cunningham Hill Junior School providing PPA cover for one afternoon a week. I have a teenage son and daughter who go to school locally.
Parent Governor, Mr Nathan Hester (Elected 11/2/13)
With a daughter at Cunningham Hill Junior School, a son in Yr 1 another to start school in 2016, I’m in for the long haul. It’s because of this long term involvement that I am keen to play a role in governing the school in the interests of all of it’s pupils. My wife and I have supported the school via the parents association since our daughter started at the Infant School and I relish the opportunity to be more closely involved.
Parent Governor, Mr Richard Marsh
My eldest daughter Jessica-Rose attends the school. I have a younger daughter (Poppy) who I hope will join the school when she is old enough. I am a partner at a firm of accountants in the City and also have several local business interests. As a proud father I understand that our children are the most important things that we as parents can have in our lives. I hope that my personal and business experiences can help to maintain and improve the school for the benefit of the children. In the limited spare time that I have outside of work, my two children and I enjoy going to the gym, watching a film or dining out.
Parent Governor, Mr Alex Sage
I have 2 daughters; Madeleine (3 years old), and Eleanor in Silver Class. I have a background in finance with related experience in strategy, governance and staff development. I’m treasurer for a local church bell ringing group and teach people to ring. I have a passion for running and history; and recognise the huge importance of a positive early educational experience. As such, I welcome the opportunity to be more closely involved with the school.
Staff Governor, Miss Natasha Lewis
Clerk to Governors, Mrs Darshna Patel-Davies
