What a fantastic start to our second half of Autumn term. The children came back refreshed and ready to learn.

On Monday we introduced our new topic ‘It is sensational’, by naming and labeling all the main parts of the body. The children knew many difficult words such as; knuckles, spine, skull and stomach. Then on Wednesday we explored our senses in a very hands on (and feet, nose, ears and mouth) workshop.

Today our ‘Big Write’ focused on describing this experience by writing sentences about all 5 senses, drawing on our activities on Wednesday.

In Maths we explored position, direction and movement. We used the beebots and created algorithms to move the beebots to given points.

In Computing we have started our new unit called ‘ We are TV chefs’ where we will film our own recipe video. This unit links with Design Technology where the children are planning and will make and evaluate a healthy sandwich. Please look at the note that has been sent home, regarding the taste test.

We are focusing on balance in PE and have loved using the apparatus today, where we were practicing jumping and landing safely.

We talked to the children about having a safe bonfire night and hope you all have a sparkling weekend.

Year 1 team.
