It was a very exciting weekend in EYFS, our chicks hatched! Unfortunately the children were unable to see them hatch, however we have 1 egg left.
We currently have 2 yellow chicks, 2 brown chicks and 1 black chick.
The children have enjoyed handling the chicks, showing care for them and holding them gently. They remember to wash their hands each time they hold them.
They have begun asking questions about the chicks, observing them eating and drinking, describing how they feel and look. We have had descriptions such as fluffy, soft, smooth, scratchy, spikey, pointy to describe their feathers as well as their claws.
Some children have drawn and written about the chicks too.
