It was lovely to see you all at parent’s evening. It has been another busy week and the children have worked hard even in the heat!

In maths this week we have been exploring place value with numbers up to 999. We used the numbers using manipulatives and recorded the numbers on a place value grid. They  used the greater than / less than symbols to compare two 3 digit numbers and recorded their results by writing the numbers in words. Today the children used this place value knowledge to read scales with various intervals of 2s, 5s and 10s.

In Literacy and Language we continued to look at poems. They determined what makes a good poem: rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, images and stanzas. They used their previous knowledge to create their own kennings and created a class poem.

We have used our previously designed patterns of animal skins to make a tile from which we have printed a ‘scarf’.

We have sent home some more song words to please learn ready for our concert and leavers meeting in the final week.

We look forward to seeing you all on open evening on Wednesday and bring your parent to school day on Friday.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Fernandes, Mrs Hostein and Miss Spencer.
