Another fun and busy week in Year 1. We have been practicing our songs for the Harvest Concert which some children are finding challenging as there are many long words and complex rhythms. However, they are working hard on learning the lyrics and singing tunefully.
In Maths we started our unit on Shapes and were pleasantly surprised with their previous knowledge and how they are deepening what they already know. They have sorted shapes according to their properties and discussed which shapes are better for building, explaining using mathematical vocabulary.
This morning, we talked about our trip to Highfield Park and planned our writing using talk for writing. Ask the children to retell you our morning in the park using the actions we created today. Each child created their own map and started to write using it as a guide. We will continue this activity next week.
We look forward to meeting you next week during Parent Consultation evenings as well as Harvest concerts.
Have you all a autumnal weekend and we see you all on Monday for our last week of this half-term.
