Another busy week in year 2!

In maths we have continued with our place value knowledge of numbers to 100. This has included odd and even numbers, using a 100 square, number sequences and counting in 3s, tens and ones and making 2 digit numbers from single digits. We are also trying to use greater instead of bigger when comparing numbers. A maths activity has been sent home with your child for home learning to be returned by Wednesday please.

Stretching a sentence was the focus in writing today. The children started off with a very simple sentence: The dog sat. We then added information using who? what? when? where? and why? to make the sentence a lot more detailed and interesting. The clip we used with an example can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6g4bxJBjcU

In music the children have been learning a new song about Roman life and another that needs words rhyming with oo! They have begun to use the words tempo and volume / dynamics when describing the changes in sound.

IN RE the children passed around Christian artefacts and thought about how they would be used, by whom and why. Next week we will be learning about Islamic prayer so if anyone of you would like to come and talk to us about this it would be great to hear from you. Please speak to Miss Spencer if you can.

We have sent home the letter this week with details about our visit to St Albans Abbey. Please do complete the forms and return them to school as soon as possible.

Have a lovely weekend

Miss Spencer, Mrs Hostein and Mrs Fernandes.
