Good afternoon!

In maths we have begun to look at data handling. The children gathered data about their eye colours and then recorded it on a table. They then used this skill to collect information about how many eyes the aliens have! This was then presented in a table and a pictogram. The children then answered questions about the data. We have sent home an activity to continue using these skills.

In big writing today the children wrote a letter from the perspective of the old man from The Tin Forest. They had to think carefully about the tenses used as they talked about how he felt yesterday and now / tomorrow. They set it out as a letter should be.

In music the children have been learning to play the chords of Silent Night on a xylophone and keeping to the correct tempo. We have also been practising singing songs for St Luke’s.

In history / topic the children wrote a newspaper report to show their understanding of the cause and effect of the Great Fire of London.

Thank you for the wonderful donations of toys to go under our christmas tree which was lit up today. The Salvation Army will be collecting the gifts on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend

The Year 2 team.
