Year 2 have had an amazing day today. It was very muddy and quite chilly at times but this did not stop Year 2 learning and having fun. We have measured the girths of trees with tape measures, sketched views and plants, den building and walking along a route to see the wood carvings. We have learnt the difference between rural and urban by looking at the views from the top of the hills. There was lots of walking so we hope your children sleep well tonight!
Thank you for all the reading sponsorship money so far, yesterday we were up to £600 which is amazing and means we can order some new books for the school. We hope you enjoyed coming in to read with your children. There was a lovely atmosphere around the school and it was good to see all the children enjoying reading or talking about their favourite books. The children all looked good in their book character costumes.
In maths this week we learnt about 3d shapes, their names and properties. Web made repeated patterns using shapes and colours. Next week we will be learning about rotation and direction.
In big writing this week they created their own Egg Box Dragon adventure. They will be creating books and adding illustrations to share with other children.
Next week is a busy week with waste awareness workshops, E-safety workshops on Tuesday we are very lucky to have a visiting author: Jeanne Willis who will be doing workshops with each of the classes. She will also be book signing after school if you would like to buy one.
Have a lovely weekend
The Year 2 team.
