Today we were incredibly lucky to have the Mayor of St Albans visit our School to launch Democracy Week.

The Mayor spoke to the children about using their vote and what the majority vote means.  He explained how the children will use their vote on Tuesday afternoon and how important it is to use their vote wisely and not produce a “spoilt paper.”

The Mayor then introduced us to the Macebearer, who explained to the children and staff about the Mayoral robes and regalia and spoke about the history behind them.

Our 8 School Councillors then had a drink of squash and a biscuit with the Mayor and Macebearer.  They asked questions and talked about their roles at School and how they were elected by their classmates.  I think it’s an experience they will never forget.
