Yesterday was a wonderful immersive day for the children ‘it was a portal back into 1666’ (quoted by Thomas) Thank you to all the parents who came to help, it would not have happened with out you. The children enjoyed meeting Mistress Victoria and the many activities that History Off The Page provided. These ranged from weaving, making ink and using quills, sewing, candle making, clay button mould making, perfumery, apothecary, role play and sawing off limbs!
Today the children wrote a recount of the events from yesterday using adverbs of time and conjunctions. They had some really exciting explanations of the activities and were still buzzing from yesterday.
In maths the children have been identifying 2d shapes by the number of sides and vertices (corners) these include regular and irregular shapes. They investigated right angles around the classrooms and have been finding lines of symmetry. We have sent home a sheet that includes 2d and 3d shapes as we will be moving on to these next week.
Next week is a busy week with World Book Day on Thursday and Heartwood Forest on Friday. We look forward to seeing the children’s character outfits on Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend.
