In maths we have been using our multiplication and division knowledge to solve word problems. Please practise the 2, 5 and 10 times tables with your child so they have instant recall and can use these facts to aid their division. Next we are recapping 2d and 3d shapes and their properties, including lines of symmetry.
In big writing the children recalled events of an adventure in first person, writing as the character. They will write this on a postcard during handwriting next week.
In science this week they looked at the life cycle of animals including humans.
Again in music the children used notation to play simple patterns with percussion instruments. This included rests so it was quite tricky to keep in time with each other. We also practised the songs that we sung to entertain the May Kings and Queens!
Please encourage your child to read as much as possible and ask them to explain to you what happened or they learnt from their books.
Gold class – we are short of parents to help with swimming on the 21st of May, is anyone available to help please. Also can we remind you that every child needs to have their own hat to swim in. Samuel Ryder have become very strict about this now and say: no hat, no swimming.
Have a lovely weekend and remember class photos are on Tuesday. Gold class will be having theirs before they go swimming!
