Week 5 already!
In maths this week we have been practising adding on number lines. The children have found this tricky transferring partitioned numbers onto a number line. We will be continuing with this next week and have sent home a guidance sheet with some questions for them to practise. Asking them to explain how to do it to you will help develop their understanding.
In science the children have been learning how seeds disperse in a variety of ways. The children have begun to make burrs in clay to show how these types of seeds attach themselves to animal coats and are dispersed to a new area.
We read to the end of chapter eleven today in Fantastic Mr Fox for our english lesson. The children then learnt about the features of a comic strip and used these to make their own about Mr Fox and his family. They were encouraged to use speech and thought bubbles.
The children have been practising their harvest songs ready to entertain you in our school harvest celebration next Thursday. We look forward to seeing you there.
We are looking forward to our trip next Tuesday. Please arrive at school for the usual time and in school uniform. Don’t forget your packed lunch if you are not having a school one.
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs Fernandes, Mrs Hostein and Miss Spencer.
