We hope you all had a lovely half term break.

Remembrance day has been a mini topic for this week. The children have been learning about what Remembrance day is and why we hold it each year. They have thought about memories and how objects can be connected to them. It was interesting to hear about their memories. Today in big write the children wrote an acrostic poem using the words and themes: poppy, poppies and thank you. This showed how much they had understood about remembrance and why we observe it each year. They have painted their clay poppies which they made before half term and created mixed media poppies for design and technology. Today the whole school held two minutes silence and were very respectful.

This leads onto next week which is anti bullying week and the theme this year is ‘Choose respect.’  Home learning this week is to complete an acrostic poem on ‘Respect.’

In maths we have been learning about metres, centimetres, how to use a ruler and comparing the measurements using greater / less than signs. We thought about top tips when using a ruler: always make sure they start measuring at 0 and check they are measuring in cms. You could ask the children to estimate the length of objects around your house.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Fernandes, Mrs Hostein and Miss Spencer.
