** Please note that the letter your children bought home today about our visit to High-field Park has a conflict of dates. The visit will be taking place on Thursday 3rd October**  We are sorry for any misunderstanding.

The children are successfully continuing to adapt to life in year 1.

This week in maths we have been investigating and learning number bonds to 5, 6, 7 and 8. This will continue next week with bonds to 9 and 10. All these bonds are so very important as a foundation to the next and further stages in addition and subtraction. Knowing these bonds will really help your child when calculating with larger numbers in year 2 and above. Being able to ‘play around’ and manipulate these bonds shows a good understanding of place value too.

In writing the children have re-read the three poems from last week by Shirley Hughes and added to the vocabulary used to describe the mud, sand and water. They are then choosing one of these to write a poem about.

Animal sorting continued in science with the children learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. There was some great discussion as to what the different animals, including ourselves eat!

We look forward to meeting many of you this evening. If however you can’t make tonight we will put the slides on the website in due course and send home any handouts given. We are also available to talk to after school most days if you have any concerns or worries.

See you later!

Mrs Caramelo and Miss Spencer
