In maths this week we have recapped our understanding of place value with numbers to 20. The children have been making the numbers using dienes to deepen their understanding of teen numbers having one ten.
In RE we learnt about the Christingle, a christian celebration. Next week, on Monday, we will be making Christingles for our service in St Luke’s on the Tuesday. Please can you send your child in with an orange on Monday. Also, your child should have come home with a thin strip of paper in their book bags yesterday which are their lines for the service. Please do help your child to learn their lines. Thank you.
Thank you for your patience with spellings. We have been discussing this as a whole staff in the school as the best way forward. We were finding that children learnt the list of words for a test but then did not use them in their every day writing. After the holidays, in the first week back, we will be assessing the first 100 high frequency words. After that the children will be doing activities in school to learn a weekly list of words. This list will also be sent home to practise.
We look forward to seeing many of you next Tuesday for our year 1 Christingle.
Mrs Caramelo and Miss Spencer.
