We apologise for not having blogged for a few weeks but it has been a very busy time!
The children have also been busy and having fun with with their learning. For writing we have continued with The Egg Box Dragon by Richard Adams. The children have learnt more facts about the personality of the dragon. He is quite a mischievous dragon! However he has a special ability to find lost things and the children have written to him by taking on the persona as one of the villagers who has lost something and are asking the dragon for help. They will be replying to each other’s letters next week!
In maths the children have been reminded about the values of coins and notes. They have investigated different ways of making amounts and solved problems involving money. Home learning this week continues the problem solving but the best practise the children would benefit from is actually using coins.
The mystery of the disappearing cake has been solved! The children have been collecting data on members of staff trying to identify who might have taken the cake! We have opened attachments in emails and listened to audio files. They have produced excel spreadsheets and learnt how to filter data.
E-safety day – the children talked about what E-safety is and went through scenario cards.
Last week the children really enjoyed the Chinese dragon dance workshop led by a professional dancer. He was very engaging for the children. We also talked about Chinese New Year and the children made crafts to celebrate Chinese new year.
If you have not already done so, please can you pay the monies for our Great Fire of London day by next Friday, 15th February. Also please do let us know if you are able to help on the day. Thank you.
Please can you also start saving tubes as after half term we will be doing more D&T modelling. (For example: toilet and kitchen roll tubes) Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs Fernandes, Mrs Hostein and Miss Spencer.
